Eggs and Agates
Sometimes, when I gaze at thee
I am confused by what I see
Some kind of dichotomy
Eggs and agates
Protective shell
Fragile
Easily broken
Fluid thoughts and emotions within
Needing warmth and nurture
To spark the life contained
To grow
To fly
Eggs and agates
Hard
Roughened by life and time and experience
Tough
Dulled by doubt and thoughts of imperfection
Incredible beauty within
Reflective
Bright
Multi-coloured
Shining
But crystallised by judgement
Eggs and agates
But, these eyes that gaze at thee,
Fashioned from rocks and bones and pieces of shell,
Have learned to look with a different sight
They see the beauty on the outside
They see the beauty made manifest
In all your actions
In all you do
They feel the beauty in the aura
That surrounds you
That spreads out around you
That shines from you
They are touched by the beauty within
By your heart
By your mind
By your soul
These eyes see
The life contained within the shell
The world within the agate
These eyes see the whole of you
