Education

Loud the students whine;
I will not learn this,
It is a waste of time.

Lessons are dismissed.
They view rules as remiss,
Ignorance is bliss;

Why do we do this?
The endless cycle of
Stupidity moves on.

A script of labels
That always changes
Keeping things the same;

But, who is to blame?
Who creates the game?
Bad ideas I name.

The grade school children do not want to memorize their multiplication tables, because they can just "google" them when they need them. "Why do we do this? The endless cycle of Stupidity moves on." And they do not need to know how to read or write because they are going to be influencers on Utube and make a million dollars without it. Login to Reply

We simply give things new labels. The same failed notions just get retried. It is the ultimate example of group think. Every teacher learns the same failed concepts. So the industry recycles the same problems.

I had to leave before I had to leave teaching because I couldn't handle the way we were "teaching" anymore. I love young people and sharing the knowledge I've accumulated with them, but the U.S. education system is broken. Nice poem on your thoughts. I ask when are we the education system going to change so we can stop the cycle of ignorance. Instead the education system double down on the many failed ideas, just gives them new names.
