Education

Loud the students whine; I will not learn this, It is a waste of time. Lessons are dismissed. They view rules as remiss, Ignorance is bliss; Why do we do this? The endless cycle of Stupidity moves on. A script of labels That always changes Keeping things the same; But, who is to blame? Who creates the game? Bad ideas I name.

This is sadly becoming more true. The grade school children do not want to memorize their multiplication tables, because they can just "google" them when they need them. "Why do we do this? The endless cycle of Stupidity moves on." And they do not need to know how to read or write because they are going to be influencers on Utube and make a million dollars without it.

I thought that it's only here at my place that we're dealing with a rotten education system. This page showed me how education system is disappointing many around the world!!

Whoa! That first stanza is so reminiscent of the late '60's whine: 'It's not relevant! I can't relate to it.' Remember that garbage?! The more things change, the more they stay the same, eh?! :) gw

That's the point. Nothing in education is real change. We simply give things new labels. The same failed notions just get retried. It is the ultimate example of group think. Every teacher learns the same failed concepts. So the industry recycles the same problems.

Education and why we refuse to change a broken methodology is mind boggling to me, Kenneth. I had to leave before I had to leave teaching because I couldn't handle the way we were "teaching" anymore. I love young people and sharing the knowledge I've accumulated with them, but the U.S. education system is broken. Nice poem on your thoughts. Bill

So when a principal says I taught their parents and the apple didn't fall far from the tree. I ask when are we the education system going to change so we can stop the cycle of ignorance. Instead the education system double down on the many failed ideas, just gives them new names.
