Edelweiss

Edelweiss

Edelweiss, a mountain child,
 High up in the alpine wild;
Learned to yodel in his youth
 Serenades climbers -hikers, too!

Edelweiss was one of my favorite Sound Of Music songs. It would be nice to write like you do Sam. I love your last line, "serenade climbers" I can almost smell and see their star shaped leaves singing on the hill, a song of noble, white devotion.

Hi Nette! Thank you so much! Had fun with the picture of the edelweiss yodeling - singing its beauty to hikers and climbers - truly a child of the summer mountains. All the best to you in blessings of summer joy!

Beautiful, the title reminds me of a song i used to listen to when i was little and brought back so many memories, and you the lyrical heart that inks so with such love and in such eloquence, i cant help but be in awe of your rhymes dear samszy! You amaze me. I especially love “ yodel in youth” “ serenades climbers” ah such clever wordplay there. Subtle and sublime! Pleasure reading this poetic gem! Which flows with so much depth and i just read it over and over again touched! A mountain child, sending you light always sweet samszy

Hi SO! I love alpine wildflowers and the edelweiss is unique among them. You are right about the song. It comes the the musical The Sound of Music. I have always loved that song - simple and elegant like the flower. I wrote this poem as part of a children's book. Thank you so much for your wonderful comments! I always look forward to them. Sending you blessings and my gratitude!
