Echoes of Brilliant Blue
Beneath an azure sky, we skimmed the surface of the lake,
our young son on an inner tube, laughing behind the boat,
hanging on for life as he bounced on the waves in its wake,
splashing in sun-lit sparkles! Those echoes of brilliant blue
stay with me still! Bright was the sound of glee when things were new!
I close my eyes and see it now; tranquilly I float
by the anchored boat on gleaming blue. Bittersweet is my ache.
