Ebony Skies
The Sun rises like a phoenix,
from the charcoal ashes of Night.
And sets the eastern skies afire,
lit by Dawn's ethereal light.
Orange, yellow, and tangerine
edge colored clouds of pink and grey.
And a mix of pastel pigments
confirms that Sol is on his way.
Soft shades of violet and blue
slowly infuse ebony skies.
And the Night dissolves into Day
when a golden sun starts to rise.
Shifting shadows retreat from black,
while sunrise chases Night away.
And twinkling stars slowly vanish;
washed away by the light of Day.
