Easing Away the Pain
One day as a child,
I saw a dog struggling
to rise on its two feet;
it had been hit by a vehicle
on the road.
My eyes, in the midst of tears,
I prayed to God,
asking him to ease the dog's pain away;
its howling was breaking me apart in the inside.
I prayed hard that He would send an angel
to carry it away home, where pain would be no more....
