The Whiskey Taster’s Flavor Guide

Earth Wind Fire Water

I buried her deep in the ground
The earth covers her all around
We mark the grave with rounded stone
I’m left standing all alone

The wind beneath my wings is gone
Though she battled long and strong
Now with God she waits for me
Where we will unite for eternity

The fire inside angers me
That too young her soul went free
And upon this Earth I continue to tread
Each future year I approach with dread

Time is like water for the fire inside
My hurt and pain, I learn to hide
My angry fire starts to subside
But my lover’s desire I still abide

In the Earth she lies, having taken my wind
The fire extinguished by water within

I like the way you wove your feelings into the elements, especially the line "The wind beneath my wings is gone." I guess emotions are much like the elements. They can be blessings and painful as well. Beautifully written, Joe. Congratulations on your win! Love, Carolyn
