Early Saturday

We dance
down the paths
     we should
have gone down
years ago
Reaching out
through our
souls for verse
   let's continue
our struggle
continuing to
taste reality
and catch
violent winds
as they move
as they sing
as they dance
as they
   light up our world
   Well - you
know that we are not
totally free
 but....
Purple lights
appear on
   the scene
we shall
react to them
in a matter
  which seems
   appropriate
to us
Will we reach our poetic goals?
I think we will!

I think you have reached your "poetic goals" in this awesome poem, Matthew. Poetry is an expression of our reaction to the things that surround us. I like the way you describe the "purple lights" that appear and the reactions they generate. Great work! Love, Carolyn

Hi Matthew, I am trying to do just that . It is 12:42 early Saturday. In replay to your question regarding my Haiku 'Rhythm of the Falls" - if you go to Contest section on the Left hand side of Poetrysoup Home page and click on it, you will find a list of the contests you can enter. You will see Raul's Merano's contest 'Rhythm of the Falls and see the picture of the falls. You should try it. It's fun. Thank you for you kind comments. Love, Lainie

Yes, those "purple dreams" shall urge us on! Lovely, Matthew. And, yes, I know what you mean about subconsciously writing deeper meanings in our work. In the words of our Sean Kelly, WRITE ONNN! Hugs, Donna
