Dutch Oven

There's my cast iron Dutch oven pot,
Sitting on the counter, still dirty.
Word is, "Don't wash", or it will rust rot.
Old fat increases its purity.

It’s funny right?! Most things you have to wash.

Don't rust cast iron. It has to stay oiled. Thanks for your interest.

Sounds like a 'chemistry experiment before its time.' Perhaps that's because I know zero about chemistry. ~ Just sayin'

Cast iron was popular with early pioneers. It's sturdy cookware. Thanks for reading.

Thank you. I used the Dutch oven pot for my turkey roll on Thanksgiving. I cooked just for myself this year bur I look forward to future sandwiches.

I still use a cast iron skillet. When it gets real bad, I simply burn it in an open fire. Cleans it right up. A fun one, Hilda.

I was surprised to learn, years ago, that you're not supposed to wash cast iron. But rinsing is the recommended way. I enjoyed your poem, Hilda. Blessings.

Thank you for your input. I do wash it right before I use it again. It's never long without grease.
