Duet of Fire

Written: September 9, 2026 for a contest Sponsored by: Line Gauthier

                   ******************

I filled the night’s chalice with knots of desire,
we dance through the darkness, a duet of fire.
It rains red roses, riots of love ignite,
the midnight stars groove to our souls’ delight.
Let’s share our ardor with the moon’s soft beams,
hands joined, lives twined, eternal as our dreams.

"hands joined, lives twined, eternal as our dreams" A very romantic write, Sotto. Congrats on your win.

A beautifully compact rhyming love poem, glowing with ardor, movement, and midnight romance. The paired end-rhymes give it a graceful, songlike flow, while images such as “the night’s chalice,” “red roses,” and “a duet of fire” create a vivid, passionate atmosphere. Congratulations on your placement in the contest.

I really like the line, 'riots of love ignite.' ... And I believe that your pen is 'on fire,' in the positive sense of that phrase. Keep 'em coming, Sotto. ~ Countdown, Ignition - Gershon
