Drunken Sailor

I heard Congress was spending money like a drunken sailor
And I thought this was disrespectful
Congress spends like they are obsessed
For the future they’re neglectful

It’s disrespectful to drunken sailors
It is totally wrong what they say
Drunken sailors never spent
Assuming their grandchildren would pay

I was once a drunken sailor
And you know what’s really funny
I always stopped spending
Whenever I ran out of money

Congress are elitist bastards
So let this story be known
When drunken sailors spent that money
They only spent their own.

Congress has no conscience
Part of the political machines
They can spell INTEGRITY
But they don’t know what it means

I’d rather be a drunken sailor
And spend only what I amass
Than to spend it like a congressman
And be a horse’s (OH!! You know what I mean)

Vince, Your poem sure hits home. Only Where do we start to correct the problem? I know, we'll vote you in and then we will be taken care of. I was only joking. I don't know where to begin with out wiping out the whole of our elected members then that would only give us new problems. Love your poem, Vince. God Bless, Cile

Vince, a sailor lives to carry on the tradition of those who came before. Being called a drunken sailor is an honor. For anyone to reference the drunken sailor as anything other than in respect for the sailors of the world is demeaning. I am proud that I am one of the drunken sailors, no longer in the literal sense, but in spirit, and believe your poem does justice to righting a wrong. Great job. A Drunken Sailor, HMC, USN, Retired.

Ride on Vince!Tar them with the same brush, hoist them high I say, Put a few more into jails, It's less than we'd have to pay, poke their eyes out with ponted sticks, it's simply not my concern, let the youngsters go for them...I already had my turn!

Great write, Vince! I couldn't agree with you more...We have let the fox loose in the henhouse, and now we wonder why we can't get any eggs. Dan C ps. Thanks for your comments. I thought the Flyers were going to pull out another OT win when they scored in the 3rd Period. It was a great series, any your guys played their hearts out, so they too, should be congratulated!

I like the candid anger in this. Vince, keep an eye overseas. Spain is getting ready to go over and I think that we are repeating history from the last century. You're a military man, so try this out- it is 1936 1937 in real terms for us and this world. JFK once wrote a book called Why England Slept. I believe that we are headed for a cataclysm. This is not being a doomsday man or religious nut. The signs are all around us. Where are the statesmen???This is going to get bad. Regards, Geraard
