Drumbeats

drumbeats

thump in my chest

blood raging hot

courses through my veins

I am

the wolf

the hawk

the bear

I am

the woman who dreams

indigo dreams

ink spilling

on the

snow white canvas

of her reality

drumbeats

thump in my chest

lighting courses

through my brain

I am

the witch

the mother

the lover

the crone

I am

one with the tides

of the moon

I am

the bane

of centuries past

the mysterious

the misunderstood

incense wafts

mixing with

gauze filled dreams

I am

the artist

smearing indigo paint

on a blank canvas

I am

the musician

hear my drumbeats

drumbeats

thump

thump

heartbeats

thump

thump (C)MJR

Michelle, the pace of this poem does indeed recall "drumbeats." Very interesting and well composed description of yourself as the artist! Love, Carolyn
