Drowning In Greed

We need so much more
Even when no more is all there is
We want to go further
Even when the end begins another end
What lies between need and greed?
Is it a thin line, a blink, a flip or a bridge?
A bridge so short and fragile
A bridge made of selfishness, betrayal and lust
Hanging over the troubled waters of envy, jealousy and hatred
Waters that never subside
The tide is always on the rise
Rising to quench our selfishness, betrayal and lust
Greed that feeds as long as it lasts
In a flood of greed we are happy to swim
Paddling to nowhere but our egos
When the storm comes we get lost
The tide is too high to the find the bridge
The bridge of need is lost
We can’t cross back to what we truly need
Until we find that bridge of love
The troubles water will overcome us
And we will drown in greed
