Drowning Dog
I might feel stuck, unable to escape, waiting to die,
But I know that it is not you, holding me still.
Sand in the hourglass flows over my eyes,
Not yet buried, just assumed to fulfill.
The strength of your love takes my pain away,
As it gets harder for me to breathe.
Always being good, making sure I obey,
Alas, my stay was not meant to be.
As my tail stops wagging,
My heart stops beating,
No more life,
Nothing left,
Only thoughts as bright as the dawn
Helping my spirit, not live
But for yours to carry on.
