Drew Wants To Know

Sometimes I get to wondering, why? Almost any old subject will do, For I have one of those curious minds Like a three-year-old named Drew Sometimes he tugs on my trousers And stares up into my cloudy eyes, Like he thinks I can answer anything When I can’t, I hear disappointed sighs I asked why he thought I would know Why the sky is blue, the grass is green And he, without hesitation, replied, “Papa, from all those years you've seen!”

" he thinks I can answer anything" - it is a wonderful feeling to have a little one look up at you, thinking this isn't it?

I seem to have always had kids looking up to me. I sat by a first grader at a formal dinner the other evening. He looked over at me and said, "You're old!" They are so honest and truthful. His papa was very embarassed, but I just smiled and said, "I like a kid who calls them as he sees them!" We got along famously.
