Dreams of My New Year
I usually don’t make them, resolutions I mean
With the best of intentions they begin and end as a dream
But as I reflect on the year that just ended
Many of my actions leave me offended
So I will start on this new New Years Day
Resolving to think more while having much less to say
I will arrive where I’m going exactly on time
I’ll pay my bills early and to the last dime
I’ll wake with a smile and give one to all I meet
When I play cards with my aunt never again will I cheat
When I’m treated with rudeness I’ll just walk away
To help to ensure that I’ll see a new day
Never again will I tailgate while driving my car
And on my way home I’ll skip at least one open bar
I feel so much better getting this all off of my chest
And to keep each one made I’ll try with great zest
Just one more point I would like to make
My poems will all rhyme even if sense is at stake
I’ll end by wishing all that read this good cheer
And many good wishes for A Happy New Year!
P.S.
It’s time for a nap; the party can wait
No one will mind if I’m just a bit late!
