Dreams

If I could make a smaller place Of all this worlds dark sorrows taste To blot out aught that hurts the heart To make anew akin the start And roll the tides back from the shore Thy worries and thy troubles ore To lift my spirit from depress And with cathartic mouth express My love, my hope, my dreams, my sight To take them all from this dark blight And place them lofty sacred nigh Where thoughts and angels dare to fly Take not my dreams away from me Lest chilling cold the spirit free A death inside but not without A wandering listless darkening cloud To scour the skies and sweep the seas Once proud exalted to its knees For what is a heart if torn in twain? A mother listless a fathers pain So keep my dreams that I may see Horizons brighter there for me Knock not the hope that lifts us all For without dreams we must but fall
