Dreams

Slipping away.
Drifting into a state of unconsciousness
Where the id, the ego and the superego merge in their own perverted world:

Free of inhibition;
    Free of intentional thought;
        Free of other senses interfering with the unfettered mind.

No physical barriers;
    No interjections from other’s prejudices –
        Just our own pre-conceived biases and misconceptions.

Rapid eye movements indicating an active mind;
While the body rests, the imagination lives on.

Colors?  Perhaps.
Based on experiences and reality? Possibly. Probably not.

Free to dream in any form – no rules apply.

Mostly forgotten when consciousness returns;
Much to our dismay.

What a wonderful day to be reading poetry of others. I am so happy your poetry is among those I am reading this morning Joe. I wish you as I wish all my fellow poets the best in your writing endeavors whatever they may be. It is a pleasure to me to read my fellow poets poetry. Love, Carol

I do love the way dreams carry us on journeys we could never really take. Our minds have depths we cannot explore consciously. Like you, I hate when I forget an amazing dream. The camera is candidly clicking, conscious or not! Love, Carolyn
