Dreaming To a Muse
I went for a walk today
The usual way
It starts from my own front door
Yes, I’ve walked it many times before
Yet, as I wandered, I looked around
And all was different; every sight; every sound
I beheld a poppy; but I saw your lips
I witnessed stars reflected in a beautiful pool;
And gazed into your eyes
Myriad sounds of nature fell on my ears;
But it was your voice I heard
The scent of the flowers; was your perfume
The landscape was soft, with sensual contour,
So I dreamed of your body and all your allure
Then I stopped for a rest; my head on your breast
The trees with their boughs, slender and lithe;
An embrace in your arms; made me feel so alive
The warmth of the sun; the smile on your face;
The things that you do that make my pulse race
A butterfly in all its bliss; the tenderness I feel in your kiss;
But more than this…
The gentleness of the lamb and the foal;
The compassion and kindness I commune in your soul
The intelligence and power all about me I find,
Are nothing compared to you or your mind
So, as I find myself back at the start;
The very essence of you warm in my heart
When I think that my day has already been good;
You just made it better, as only you could
