Dreaming
Every night I fall asleep
Hoping to see you in my dreams
I close my eyes and you appear
My heart starts beating faster
You smile as you reach out to me
I willingly give you my hand
You lead me to my favourite place
And pull me close so we can dance
A million stars are shining so bright
I see them all reflected in your eyes
You hold me close all night long
While you gently sing into my ear
All too soon it’s time to go
Even though I could stay like this forever
“Please don’t go.” I beg in vain
Knowing full well you have to leave
“Come find me.” you smile
As you gently kiss my hand
“I don’t know where to look.”
I reply sadly as you let go of me
“Just follow your heart,” you whisper
“You’ll find me when the time is right.”
The dream fades as I open my eyes
I sigh heavily as I get out of bed
I scrutinize my surroundings
As I go through my daily routine
Constantly searching for the man
Who will sweep me off my feet
