Seeker's Dreamer and the Dreamed Contest ~ February 18, 2025

Line of Inquiry... as an entity in the dream we conjured we know not we are both the dreamer and dreamed how then may we wake up when we are in trance in bondage to illusions we ourselves streamed We slip between bed sheets and a spell is cast Fast asleep in realms of a conscious mind, finding we're on a journey where dreams unfold Told we can take ourselves outside a gate, awaiting visions, we conjure for pleasure and treasures we find in idyllic dreams. Moonbeams can take us to the edge of time. Sublime, the dreamer, the ethereal host, most often unaware that we have dreamed. Serene, the reverie spent with a lover discovering the secrets within our soul controlling the flow of the stream in our dream. Sown were seeds of sleep from sandman's hand. Spanned across minutes while we're in a trance, dancing as if we drank from Morpheus' chalice Without malice 'twas given for slumber, lumbering on our pillow into a deep sleep where dreams are burning embers fanned. With grandiose wings we soar through stardust nights. Flights on an uncharted course when left to fate, created spontaneously on a whim. Grim a dream may become... an eerie illusion. If confusion sets in, we need a shake to wake from stygian dreams where peril looms.

Lin, We don't remember most of our dreams, but occasionally we may. My own understanding is that dreams involve the organizing of memories in the brain. They supposedly reflect things that happened during the previous day. They're interesting messages that reveal what "folders" we're placing things in and so they will reveal interesting connections. Really something incredible going on. I've often referred to Erich Fromm's "The Forgotten Language" which discusses dream interpretation.

Lin, great dream journeys depicted in your poem. I enjoy the fun and adventurous dreams but not the nightmares. Best of luck in the contest.

Thanks, Tania. I very seldom dream... probably because I never sleep long enough to get there.
