Dream Lover
Laying in bed between crisp white sheets,
I hear the yelping of Mr. Martinez dog,
while the crickets croon to the night.
A frog's ardent love call remains unanswered,
as my husband's restless snores beg for oxygen.
Furtive moonbeams creep between
venetian blinds while a lonely nervous
intrepid breeze found the open window and
entered carefully, entreating me to sleep.
Feeling it's narcotic effect, I close my eyes.
I will again engage in infidelity with my
veiled lover who is aware of my covert desires
which only he can gratify. Lying prone I wait for
my dream to take me where my husband
never could.
