Notes About The Poem

I just googled the subject of this poem. You can see him here , still as handsome as ever, some 40 years later!!!   http://frogleychiropractic.com/about.html

Dream Boy

My favorite verse from THE soft rock song of my youth
Hit song of 1969 by the Carpenters:

(They Long To Be) Close To You
    (middle stanza of the song)

"On the day that you were born

the angels got together and decided

to create a dream come true

so they sprinkled moon dust in your hair

of gold and starlight in your eyes of blue."

Dream Boy

To fall for him I needed just one look
and after that, he had me on his hook -
a fact which I’m not sure he even knew!
Dream boy with hair of gold and eyes of blue.

I lived for those church dances in his town.
I’d see him there but always feel let down.
Girls followed him around. What could I do?
Dream boy with hair of gold and eyes of blue.

Not being in his orbit or his school,
I longed for him and simply played the fool.
The fantasy for me would not come true!
Dream boy with hair of gold and eyes of blue.

Dedicated to Chris Frogley, wherever now he may be.

Loved the Carpenters too, a romantic verse that sounds kind of sad at the end.

Golly Gee! I sure can relate. Wanting just a date. The Carpenters were heaven sent. Chris Frogley's destiny? Well who knows where that went. Good luck in the contest. It's not all just paying rent.

Glad I didn't break your heart with my humor concerning the Frog Prince. I was so fat my first year of high school that the girls merely laughed. Fat wasn't in in 1945. But when you are fat and play the violin - aghhhh! RETCH! I hope it is cool down there in Utah. Love, daver

You are only too human, dear. BUT! Frogley? Too bad you didn't get just one kiss - he may have turned into a handsome prince. Hey! I know the feeling and sympathize completely. Love, Dave

:) This is so sweet, Andrea, and I always enjoyed the Carpenters' songs. You picked a great quote and I'm sorry you and your dream boy Chris never got together. My first infatuation was with a blonde-haired, blue-eyed altar boy who wanted to become a priest. LOL Best wishes in Chris's awesome contest. He gives us such great inspiration, doesn't he? Love, Carolyn
