Dream
Dream of Trinidad
In quiet nights, I hold a dream,
Of sunny shores and ocean’s gleam,
Trinidad calls with gentle grace,
A warm and tender, loving place.
I reach to take a child’s small hand,
To guide him safe to softer lands,
Where laughter rings and hearts are light,
And shadows fade with fading night.
But dreams, they carry truth and pain,
For not all hopes can break their chain,
Some paths are closed, some hands not mine,
Yet still, I clutch this dream divine.
I keep it close, a whispered song,
A place where we both can belong,
Though not today, one day it’s true,
A piece of me will come back through.
For now I hold the moments sweet,
The sunshine and the child’s heartbeat,
A dream half-true, a hope that’s bright,
A guiding star through darkest night.
