Dream

Dream?

Stone circle in the Moonlight
A momentary flash of her benevolent face
And featherlike caress on my cheek
Sends shivers up my spine.
Soft words whispered
And a sweet memory
That is gently touched, stirred
And gently awoken.

Why the fear then?
Of pain, loneliness or death?
Trust gone…
Yet longing lingers on,
Like a wisp of Jasmine in the wind
And a sweet distant melody
Passing for an aching second.

A mysterious picture in a dusty old cellar
In the back of my house,
Or was it the back of my head?
Was it a delusion, an illusion?
I could almost touch it
But is it mine? Is it lost?
Or was it simply forgotten?
