Dragon's Tooth

A top the verdant mountains of nirvana,
A most limitless effulgent radiance
Across azure sky, spilled crimson horizon;
                                a morning sunlight.

A knight stands, his hand gripping the swords white hilt,
His black tunic and cloak flapping in the wind.
The swords crescent hilt curved from a dragon's tooth,
                               he'd named, Dragon's Tooth.

He breathed in the aroma of petrichor.
He desired to see the dragons fly once more
Their large outstretched wings weaving between the clouds,
                             wild as black night silk.

Dragons roaring with the loud clap of thunder
Coloring the night sky with a thousand stars.
He walked home gripping Dragon's Tooth at his side;
                           their existence gone.

Congratulations on your win Eve. There are so many wonderful elements to this Arthurian based epic poem. The images are enchanting - "wild as black night silk;" the story wonderfully told, great words - "petrichor." There is so much energy and movement and emotive emotions of grief and loss. This is a fav for me. Sending you blessings.

how interesting that at the end, their existence is gone. This was cool . It made me think of that popular Game of Thrones and the woman with the dragons!! Congrats on your win

Eve, magical as always and too much so to merely leave it at as just being that, hence, a worthy Fave my friend ... for my great-grandkids to nudge the sides of my kids (their grandparents) saying, "What's petrichor?" Don't worry, my IT son can google like his brothers -- hehe! Nice write and with my compliments, Aloha!

Thank you, I needed this from you and that is ok. I had to post it a few times before I could get soup to work. I always post first so I won't lose it, then go to contest and add the rest. This time I was getting pretty agitated. Hugs Eve
