Dragonfly Fallen
White concrete walkways burn
Summer sun shows no mercy
Turns worse for the dragonfly downed
Another insect falls... Not an accident
Creatures fail to see the gravity of life
The need for water leads to thirst
When not found bad things happen
Consequences including death occur
Crisp, dark, light of body, a corps emerged
Silent, dried, a pavement spot
Motionless except for a light breeze
Which animates a translucent wing
Waving goodbye, saluting the day
A fearless dragonfly is gone
It fears less today than before
Less now as it is no more
