Down a Street I Walked

When i was young
I had many dreams
Of young boys quests
And nightmare streams

The dream of the shed
I have written about
But it's the other nightmare
That made me shout

Down a street i would walk
In my hometown
As i viewed the sky
A plane came down

It crashed in the canal
Leaving debris strewn
Bodies lie dotted
Families in ruin

I stand and stare
At the plume's of smoke
I'm half a mile away
But still i choke

Sirens all around
As the screamers scream
All of a sudden
I'm out of this dream

I sit up in bed
Drenched and cold
Shivering and lonely
With no one to hold

I fall back to sleep
My mind in dread
I count, one, two three
As they line up the dead

In the morning i awake
To this recurring dream
Or is it a nightmare i keep having
In panic deep scream

Very intense and vivid write. I believe there are a lot of people that have recurring dreams. I do not mind the recurring dreams it's the recurring nightmares that causes the problems your last stanza captures so well.

Very impressive write. There was a crash in Scotland at one time correct? I live where there is like a roadway for aircraft from the Atlanta and Jacksonville airports. The thought has crossed my mind about a crash. Try not to give it thought. Keep writing. Sara

Intense and gripping piece. I have had a few nightmares that, upon waking, I was truely shaken, because it felt so real. Great flow and vivid imagery in this Rhyme, James! Love, Robin

Horrible thoughts, images, dreams can reflect the current turmoil in the world, as this one surely does. Quiet frightening when there seems we have no control over it...well done Highlander! ~Tru~
