in the pale sunshine of a
double rainbow afternoon
giant flowers stand quite still
vividly lovely

radiance from sky to ground
in its rapturous escape
silver moon is calling me
I'm dragging my feet

WoW! Evelyn, You picked the perfect song to accompany your poem. Ray Charles was and still is one of my favorite singers. Your write is just spectacular. You have a gift for penning good imagery. I love the rainbow and what it represents. I enjoyed the read. Have a great day:-) Alexis

Dear Evelyn, your imagery is truly stunning.. your last two lines are a grand finale to a beautiful poem. Your artistic pen blooms with expression. I love your poem and I love Somewhere Over The Rainbow.. Ray Charles does an excellent rendition - as does Judy Garland, of course - but my all time fav is any of Patti Labelle's renditions, each and every performance of her Over The Rainbow is a masterpiece. She brings me to tears... Warmest wishes, my inspiring friend.. ~Susan

Your very kind remarks are much appreciated, Susan. I have listened to the 1966 version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow, by Patti Labelle and the Bluebelles, and I was rapt at this beautiful rendering of the song. Thank you for telling me about it. I do love beautiful music. I can see why it's such a favorite of yours, and it will certainly be one of mine. I am sure there will be more exposure for both of us, since we are both featured in the Poetry Soup anthology. Congratulations on your being featured. Merry Christmas!

I'm so glad you had a chance to sample Patti LaBelle's Somewhere Over The Rainbow.. there are several different performances on YouTube and there's the 1966 version she recorded as Patti LaBelle and The Bluebelles. I love your poetry, and I think more people should be aware of your awesome talent. Blessings and Christmas joy to you as well, my friend..
