Don'T Speak

Sitting alone with so much to say,
but no one to say it to.
Doubt, fear, and shame rule every day;
so much you’ve already been through.

Who can you trust? What is their take?
Will they find acceptance in choices you make?
Will they be true? Are they bound to forsake?
There is no guarantee what they’ll do.

It’s impossible to know
if there’s some hidden goal,
and so hard to see up ahead
when vision’s been blurred
from lies that you’ve heard
and hope dangles by a fine thread.

And, if you forgive,
you’re afraid you'll forget;
your heart has already been broken.
So, you force your mouth closed and stay safe, I suppose?
It’s a choice leaving words left unspoken.

Well penned, but don't keep those words in for too long or they will just choke in your throat.
