Craig's Blue Cheese and Old Pickles Contest ~ 3/17/25

I've been served lots of unappetizing things that simply did not please my palette. Being force fed with bitter or insincere words is unappealing presented as a crisp green salad. I would rather be underfed and malnourished than to feast on something too briny or cheesy. I won't feast on a buffet of regurgitated foods, like dill pickles offered as sour grapes... sleazy. Nothing has more stench to me than rotten food. As an example, mold spores inside blue roquefort, and don't ask me to swallow one bite of sarcasm. That would take far too much of my time and effort. I'd spit out a spoon of any soup if in it swims a fly, or if the spices were added by the hand of a hypocrite. A warm peach cobbler would make a scrumptious dish as long as inside there'd not be left on purpose... a pit.

Lin, congratulations on your win! Every line of your poem is so beautifully crafted with tasty double entendre and slightly moldy sharp images! Loved your creativity and artistry! Take care! Blessings!

;-) Yes, you do, thriveni. There's more to glean between them than on them. Thank you for the congratulations.

Your lines grow, then sate my appetite for metaphors. Well done ... CayCay

Lol I guess that’s a better appetite builder than for moldy cheese, which I happen to like very much. Thanks.

My goodness Lin, are you a picky eater or what? So, we do get served a lot of crap and as you say…it’s dressed up for mass consumption. Turns out you’re the smart one! We need to look carefully at what’s being fed to us. Not everyone knows what you do about digestion. Smiles!!!

oh yeah, I'm smiling with you after reading your review. It's a good thing to know what foods we should turn up our noses at instead of ingesting what goes into our digestive system to be offloaded as BS. I don't swallow that stuff in the first place. ;-)

Dear Lin, this is a clever poem so well written for the prompt! I use pickle for something else when talking so i dont think i can ever come up with a poem for this prompt or cheese , however youv written one that is so clever and creative. I love “ don't ask me to swallow one bite of sarcasm. That would take far too much of my time and effort.“ love that! I wouldnt have come up with something like this on my own , for this prompt but now reading this, im inspired! Best wishes always.

You're leaving me with thoughts on what your 'pickle' could be, but since my mind has wandered where perhaps it shouldn't go, I'll not ask. I think the sarcasm line is the one I prefer, too. Sarcastic words are never tasty. I'd rather not spit them back at the one who spews them, but I can't always control the thrust of my vomit. That sounds gross, but I'll not erase it. Thanks for your thoughts, Ink. ;-)

I'm going to write what Jan often and correctly does... "If my lines make someone smile, it's a successful poem." Thank you, Anne-Lise.

Lots of unpalatable things find their way into the soup Lin, and wow you certainly mention the least appetising ones here in this very clever piece, still it amazes me how elephants can stay in the soup for so long, damn I must be missing something lol! All the best for contest, cheers David

Some try to ingratiate themselves and others are Trumpeting their agenda with their trunks raised. Pachyderm is not very tasty. Thanks for stopping by for a read.

Thank you, Paula. I've never liked ice cream on my desserts. Love cobbler and ice cream, but I like to savor the taste of each individually.

Only trust your own cooking Lin, only eat soup you've made yourself, at least there won't be flies in it. Love how you did this, very creative. Good luck in the contest. Tom

Sure thing, Tom. That way I'll know what's in the broth. Thanks for getting the intentions and for your good luck wishes in the contest.

Ooh this reads very allegorical. It's making me want to curb my sarcasm habit. I'm almost put off pickles, but might just leave off the dill variety. Good luck with the contest

It's definitely that and metaphorical, Dilly. Only curb your sarcasm when nothing else curbs the reason for it. I don't see it being your habit... you have better things to do. Only sweet pickles and relish for me. Thank you for so many things.
