Don'T Close Your Eyes

Wind carries the dust from your ash door, How much more can you afford to pour? Throw away your shoulder height, Weaken the grip of such a cloying life. "Sink them down to a thousand fathoms deep, Grab chains tie up their hands and their feet." But I forget that we know what this is. Tossing us expecting water we hit concrete. Touching pavement and we know not what to do. Insolent waves crash on us with nothing to cling to. But we're calm to see, Calm to breathe, Drift in the water and we look up high, Watching candle light streak this burning sky, "Let's count the smoke and our remaining time. Awake memories we made so our hearts once more fly. Wish not to feel the pain we fail to obviate and hide." Don't close your eyes.
