Don’t censor me and let me write at will The longings of my heart these pages fill You fathom not what lies within my heart So don’t contrive a way to ban my art Unfettered let my fingers pound these keys My passion and my strength these rhymes appease I live to conquer fears that vex my soul The broken parts life stole, these lines make whole Those fantasies that lie within my breast All naked now they lie in words undressed I feel the freedom born of words set free You cannot bind or drown the truth in me The more you try to take away my choice The more it speaks through poetry: my voice! Eileen. You are becoming quite a brilliant sonneteer. Keep it up, girl! I don't often like many sonnets that I see at Soup, but YOURS are becoming unbeatable!

The imagery that is presented carries the essence of the statement the author is making and it is a powerful one. Emile.

My fingers being fettered....oh....there could be a time and place for that, Mr Seal; however, my mind wanders....Yes, my imagination is ripe....It takes me on lovely escapades...and these escapades find their way into my little writes....Oh...the mystery is what makes them sweet. Thanks for the visit....Oh Delinquent One. You have been remiss...So I won't blow you a kiss...but I'll hisssssssss......HISSSSSSSS...be good, Mr Seal.

Loved this, I might add that if you live or have visited parts of the world with censorship, its an issue that is closer to the heart. Also poetry is known as one of the few forms that the people could express their thoughts with less fear of reprisals from repressive regimes. Thank you this!

Yes, my dear.....I know of people here in Lebanon who have died because they did not censure their words....Self censoring is important at times...however, if the truth needs to be said, I guess someone must pay the price. Thanks for the visit, dear. Hugs

Write to your hearts content Eileen. We can choose whether it speaks to us or not.

You should post this on a blog. Eileen, the more they take, the more you voice. Strong ending. I don't see why they want to tune out certain keys. It's like taking all the fantasies from this site... HUGS... :)

Hey, Gorgeous. Thanks for stopping by....Blogs just tend to get out of hand, PD. If I were to post it....it would raise all that discussion all over again. I'm glad TPS does have rules...it has helped me in the past when I have felt ill treated. If someone invades a poet's private space with comments...that's a different story. It's all a delicate balance, my dear. No one can take my fantasies from me....rest assured! :) Hugs

Excessive censorship is as bad as no rules at all. They can both kill. The former, the muse; the latter, sensibility. This write is full of sincerity and passion for your poetry, which no one can accuse as lacking of sensibility. Your voice reverberates, Eileen. hugs!

:) Thanks, John. So much could be written about this. Censorship is a matter of life and death for some people in this country. People have lost their lives for speaking what they believed in. We need to speak out for what is right...and I will continue to do so...as I am able. Hugs
