Done Wrong
Some people come into our lives
They leave footprints on our hearts
Others come to teach us
Some become great memories
Some never leave our sides
Some come and go as lessons learned
I don’t know if I would call you a friend
Or if we're back to being strangers
When you think of me
Am I someone you once loved?
Or just someone you used to know?
Do I even cross your mind?
Or have I completely faded away?
I do wonder what goes thru your mind
When you hear my name on someone else's lips
The time we spent together was short
But still it holds so many memories
I still keep your pictures close by
And even go thru them from time to time
Those last memories of my mom
You were there by my side
I was never the girl you deserved
You brought me into your home
You did things for me that no one ever had
You were great with my son
Treated him as if he were your own
You took me places I'd never been
And I took advantage of you
I lied to you and cheated on you
And because of all that I lost you
I lost the best thing to ever happen to me since my son
And I hurt you in a way I could never take back
And for that though I know it changes nothing
And probably doesn’t mean anything at all
But I am really and truly sorry
You of all people deserved so much better than that
I was very lucky to have you in my life
To have you as a lover, a friend, someone I could depend on
You gave me so much more than words could ever explain
As well as time and places I will never get back
And I know I've said it a million times
But thank you just doesn't say enough
Even after our goodbye we continued to hook up
It was my way of holding on
Afraid you would fade away and become someone I used to know
But no matter where like takes us
You my love are someone I will never forget
Our 6 months were unforgettable
I wish you the very best
One day I hope you find the girl I couldn't be
I hope that she is as good to you as you were to me
I just hope that from time to time you'll think back
To the summer of 2013
You'll remember me and the us we used to be
Try to remember that it wasn't all bad
And if there's ever a time you need me
Or just need an old familiar face
I'll be around
Whether it's close by or far apart
You are the one person I'd come for
Anytime day or night
For anything big or small
You truly are an amazing man
And when I hear your name
I think to myself and smile
Remembering everything you taught me
Everything you gave me and everything you did for me
I am forever in your debt!
