Doe Eyes

If my spirit is akin to an animal It would surely be the lovely doe With beauty quiet and reserved Brown eyes that seem to know... Eyes so like hidden forest pools Deep, seemingly brimmed with tears Every move with a dancer's grace Watching, afraid to come to near... When I see her in the meadow Or feeding on a summer hillside I pause to reflect on her beauty For a time, my heart with her abides.... For the " If I Were an Animal" contest.. Barbara Gorelick

wowie,I like this one almost as much as that last one I just saw. You are coming up with some marvelous poems today! (or maybe it was yesterday) anyway,I bet you really are a sweet doe, Barbara. I was kind of that way when I was very young (till my emerging talkative and rascally side got the better of me)

I love deer! They seem all you say they are and more. Your poem is mezmerizing in that I am there pausing on her beauty with you and recalling the times when I would stop and stare at their grace, strength and bounding beauty! This is a lovely, flowing, descriptive poem that needs to be at the top of the winner's circle, Barbara. It certainly is in mine. Intp my favs and thanks.

Right back atcha with "Izzy." The name is so dear. Izzy Wolf was my big brother neighbor when I was very young. Took me with him everywhere. Yes! The Afternoon of a Faun by Debussy. Can't help thinking about that wonderful work while I read your fine poem. Love, daver

Even though we haven't met (yet), I know the compassion in your heart must shine through your big, brown doe eyes! You never cease to amaze me with your talent and creativing, dear. I just got the message you left on my cell phone; I don't check it every day. Hope to talk to you soon, "deer" LNC. A beautiful entry for the contest. What an image you have painted! Surely a winner. Love, Carolyn
