The short, paired lines give this magnetic poem a quick, tumbling rhythm, while the unexpected word combinations create a playful, surreal journey. “My unlipped / tongue” and “plastic shark” are especially striking, and “innately downriver” gives the ending a lovely sense of onward drift.
