Do Over

You know The older I get The more I forget I watch the youth pass me by And snicker at their lack of wisdom and sigh If I could do it all again Would I still be dumb as I was then? It’s a shame That now I know so much And truly tragic That I'm so outta touch A cruel irony of fate Life is a sick master I rate It seems so different Now that I'm old I wish I could tell them the future If I may be so bold There so full throttle Without a care in the world As I once was Into to the pit I was hurled I cant make them understand What lies ahead for them But to be honest Discovery is quite the gem Through dangers unknown The experience’s will be shown Through the scars they receive I can only hope They have knowledge better than I And navigate smartly With a well tuned eye To see path They need to see And never lose How to be free Eric (and sometimes not)

Thank you for the insight. "Youth is wasted on youth," my professor said. It took years to sink into my head!

David, Your professor knew what was up, but sadly youth are immune to logic or wisdom that's what's makes them youth. Ah I miss those days, Thank you for taking the time to comment.

I, too, was young and now I'm older! No one could tell me anything, and most of the time, I learned the hard way. Like every generation before us, they had to jump into the abyss without a flashlight. No need to try to warn them. They won't listen anyway. At 21, we all thought we knew so much and had so little!

Carolyn, Your words ring so true, ahh if I could do it all again with the knowledge I now posses. It would be a much different me, but then again it probably wouldn't have been as much fun.
