Do Not Regret the Life You'Ve Led
When old memories come flooding back
that lay dormant like the sands,
when yesterday's youth comes racing back
as if to make one final stand...
One lasting blow for freedom's sake
one earth-resounding bow,
when all the world seems right again
in an endless, timeless now...
When yesteryears forgotten faces
emerge from deep, dark blue
and all the lost, forgotten places
suddenly shine anew...
When faded pages from the past
(The Book of Life grown narrow)
suddenly reappear like angels
dancing in moon-light shadows.
And those you thought long dead and gone
have arisen from the tides
of your own heart, mind, body and soul
leaving you kneeling, reeling, feeling sublime.
And the world within is a calming wind
Filled with cotton candy clouds
Because you found the essence
Of a life well lived, one day, some way, somehow.
Take heart old man it's all been planned
by you and for no other.
Do not regret the life you've led
and memories yet uncovered.
