Do Not Disturb This Slumber

My sleep is dream-filled now --
imagined scenes, practiced dialogues,
fervid comments, loving words --
never-voiced retorts.
I resist awaking, lie in bed
clinging to a dream world --
and to that mind-constructed me
within it -- to that better, truer self,
an ached-for rosy apparition.
Do not disturb my slumber --
let me lie abed and smile
until this waking world conforms
to the ideal one I build
in dreams.

No one better wake me up, I rely on my dream world like nobody's business. Which is why I enjoy this write!

I love "dream world" I even take pills now to keep myself asleep. My body resists "uninterrupted sleep" without them. My dreams are very weird but they sure are entertaining!!

“Imagined scenes ... practiced dialogues ... never-voiced retorts” .... you’ve been reading my diary, haven’t you? Jokes aside, this really is a powerful write ... and one easy to relate to. I’ve probably talked and argued with myself FAR more than I’ve had actual conversations. Not sure if that’s good or bad, but in either case. Excellent introspective pen.

If any one person cannot relate to this, well, I cannot believe them. Who hasn't at one time or another preferred their dream world to reality. A memorable write, one that resonates very much with me. All the best ... CayCay
