Do As I Please
If I had a week to do as I please
I wonder what I would do?
I could just sit back and do nothing
That would cut down on the planning, it’s true.
Doing nothing, it’s hard to tell when you’re through
Besides it ain’t that much fun
Especially if you do it all by yourself
You can’t share it with anyone.
So here is what I came up with
I’m thinking you’ll be amazed
You’ll probably think I’m a genius
You’ll agree that I should be praised.
I’m just gonna sit in my easy chair,
Close my eyes and pretend what I choose.
I won’t have to travel, it won’t cost a cent
So what have I got to lose.
A week to conjure-up whatever I like
There’s no limit - the world’s at my feet
A whole week to dream whatever I like
And not be the least bit discrete.
For “A week to do as I please contest”
P.S.
I really don’t think this poem qualifies
For ”A Week to do as I Please”
It’s probably not what you had in mind
So I offer my apologies.
Just wad it up and throw it away
And pretend it doesn’t exist
If it’s as good as I think it is
Disregard it - I insist!
