Divine Breath

Last Night,
I watched you breathe.
Contemplating every rise and fall
As an incredible mystery.
Every curve and angle,
God's masterpiece-
a treasure beyond knowing.
Last night, I watched you breathe
and I loved.

Short, sweet and packs a punch. I watched my son breathe this morning for a full 5 minutes before waking him to get dressed for school today.. A wonderful poem you have written! A7

Sometimes we don't take time to appreciate everything we have. this is one of my joys. Sounds like 5 minutes well spent to me, Robert. I hope it made your day! ~Jan

Janet - just the perfect length! Any longer and it wouldn't have the impact it has now. My favorite line..."every curve and angle". Wonderful!

Thanks so much Raven! Sometimes the hardest thing is to just cut it off and resist the urge to keep going.

Ann, I started to write this as something to my husband, and it is, but I also recalled those nights of just watching my babies sleep. And so I stopped and left it much shorter than intended. Sometimes it good to just stop and let it be...and watch your loved ones breathe. ((HUGS)) ~jan
