Distance From Heaven

Wanting you is easy
Sometimes being friends I find so hard to do
Beneath the ember of lies lives a fire 
If I’m to tell the truth

I don’t mean to push you away 
I’m trying to protect my heart from hurt
You’re an Angel, my weakness, and my purpose 
You’re a blessing on this earth

I keep my distance from heaven 
Cause being too close without touching you is hell
I tell myself maybe someday knowing damn well
I only fool myself

Everyday it gets harder 
Putting feelings back upon the shelf
I keep my distance from heaven 
Cause being too close without touching you is hell

Please be patient give me time 
I have to face this pain on my own
This ain’t the first time and I’m guessing 
It only ends when my names upon a stone

I’m living while dying thinking of
All the seeds we could have sown
Another sunrise another sunsets on the one
I’ve never got to know

But sometimes I’m not as strong as I should be
I’m here just like always and you bet 
I’m never gonna leave
