Distance

I miss your easy laughter over something silly I said
I miss that look in your eyes that used to meet mine
Willingly.
I miss your gentle arm around me from behind,
Your voice from beside my ear, just because
I miss you needing me to touch you, just in passing
Unhurried strokes across your shoulders

I miss you even more now,
Desperately, painfully
I miss you every waking moment,
Each second that keeps me from holding you
Freely
In my dreams

I miss you,
Excruciatingly

I crave you...

And you're sitting right next to me.
