Dismal

I stared into his eyes,
Then slowly turned away.
I think to myself,
Another cold, hard, dismal day.
He doesn't say a word,
Just softly closed the door.
Will they meet again?
I fall down to the floor.

As he walks down the street,
My love walks further away.
Will he come back tonight?
Will I have the strength to stay
Through another dismal day?
Another cold, hard, dismal day.

Tears have gone and dried.
My heart's now laced with stone.
I want to throw him out,
But I can't make it all alone.
Still he doesn't say a word,
So I softly close the door.
Will we love again?
I fall down to the floor.

As he walks down the street,
My love walks further away.
Will he come back tonight?
Will I have the strength to stay
Through another dismal day?
Another cold, hard, dismal day.

These city light keep getting colder
Another day, another year older
Lights burn bright through the blackened sky.
You're not really there as time drags by.
You walk by as if I'm not there.
Do you see me? Do you even care?
You said you loved me.
Are those just words you say?

As he walks down the street,
My love walks further away.
Will he come back tonight?
Will I have the strength to stay
Some say I won't, some say I will.
Things keep moving on
But I am standing still.
Through another dismal day.
Another cold, hard, dismal day.
