Disillusioned
Entering into mazes and mists on trails veiled in vapor,
Camouflaging strawmen speeches made of paper.
A complex vortex of lies lying in lair,
Welling, waiting, writhing,
For spirits who dare enter there.
Dare flirt with the folly of fending truth,
With politicians so long in the tooth.
Those who enter in, to their chagrin,
Shocked by that slippery slope of sin.
Shunned from the floor and ignored after asking why,
Taken behind the rusting curtain and made to comply.
Disillusioned now and to keep his place,
Lose his conscience and double his face,
Soliciting funds for the approaching race.
To enter into mazes and mists on trails of vapor,
Camouflaging strawmen speeches made of paper,
A complex vortex of lies lying in lair,
Welling, waiting, writhing,
For spirits who dare...enter there.
