We both reached into the chiller cabinet at exactly the same moment
‘Dinner for one’ you said, and we both laughed
Our eyes met and you gave me a shy smile
‘Let’s make it dinner for two’ you said softly and you touched my hand
I hesitated, but only for a second. ‘Okay Frank' …
Arm in arm we stroll back to our rooms at the sheltered housing complex
Now we are making up for lost time, neither of us is getting any younger
I’d lost my husband several years ago and Frank had lost beloved wife
Who knows what the future holds for us
Love, romance, or companionship
We’ll just take it day by day
