Differences

I wish I fit into your lives.
But we grew up so differently.
You tried,
To be there for me when we were kids
But I didn't know how to let you in.
I made myself appear strong,
So you wouldn't see me breaking.
It felt as though,
That is what you needed.
You will never understand,
The pain,
That has made me who I am.
And for that I am grateful,
But I know that means
We will never be close.
