Diapered Wisdom
Would it not be a better world
If we could circle the block
Speak to our neighbors
Share stories of who we are
Who our ancestors were
Laugh at how far we have come
While achieving so little
Grass trampled by tiny feet
Hearts lifted by same
Our children
Are not burdened
With our history
And will
If given time
And guidance
Write their own
For children
Know not boundaries
Of head or heart
Or past
They are of the now
The snowman
The butterfly
The fireflies
Buzzing in curly hair
Hopefully
They will become
The we
We should have been
Or with the innocence
Of their guidance
May still become
