Very enlightening poem, Yo Soy Anaya ! I wonder if she represented the satirical upper class because the lower class could not be satirical ? If so, La Catrina is wrong because I’m of the lower class & can be very satirical. From what I can remember of my Mexican past lives, the lower classes had many rituals celebrating their dead, which was closer to the Ancient Egyptian death celebration rituals. ThkU 4 posting. Hi Ghairo, ha, love it. I'm not sure. La Catrina, also known as The Dapper Skull was created by Mexican printmaker José Guadalupe Posada around 1910. The character was initially depicted as a skeleton dressed in elegant European-style clothing, serving as a critique of the bourgeoisie during the dictatorship of Porfirio Díaz. Posada's work aimed to highlight the absurdity of wealthy Mexicans who adopted European customs while neglecting their Indigenous roots. The name "Catrina" derives from the slang term "catrín," which referred to a well-dressed person. I'm sure many who dress up are lower-class. TyVm for your blessings & contribution! xhugs

The Day of the Dead offers us such a wonderful way to remember our loved ones who have died. And, yes, they live because we remember and honor them!!! In New Orleans families go to family plots with fresh flowers to remember their loved ones. A beautiful tradition! Again, Happy All Saints and All Souls. Thank you for remembering! Blessings!

Anaya, seems like we'll be fighting the same battle for some time. Respect to those who came before could also mean learning about what they faced and did. Hopefully, there's some understanding that we are on continuous repeat of cycles from history, but it's hard to keep that message alive. There's some irony in all of this. Smiles!!

Those Dodgers what a thrilling conclusion to a thrilling series! Although I'm an Angelino, I have kept my admiration for the Blue Jay's (a guarded secret). Canadian's are open-minded and generally play fair in political matters.
