Detours and Forevermore
In these landscapes
painted with close calls
and teenage boys
teetering on Lover's Falls
from the crevices of loneliness
so far down, sun doesn't shine
to times when this little light
of mine, shined
like a late night diner sign
Birthdays at Denny's
to me wearing your tapestry
slightly parted curtains
revealed so much hurting
the pain was choking
Looked beyond despair
learned to breathe without air
stepped into a new existence
began changing the ordering
of persistence.
Came to understand
the journey of a man
learned to pick
myself up after a tumble
and how to walk
from underneath
that youthful safety bubble
Seen a lot of things during
this time of mine, but none more
amazing than when
your love redirected me
One hundred and twenty-five
miles out, from Forevermore
let's keep pushing through
till forevermore is in our rearview
